Publishing Policy

Here’s an overview of what we do and what we don’t do. All services, tools and references we recommend are our personal suggestions. We would never recommend anything we wouldn’t consider useful to our readers. We never promote services that we see no utility in. And we never publish paid content.

  1. We do not publish any sponsored articles.
  2. There are no “hidden” advertisements in our articles.
  3. Our sponsors have no influence on the content of our magazine.
  4. Smashing Magazine doesn’t publish any PR advertisements.
  5. Smashing Magazine doesn’t take part in any kind of partner-linkage systems.
  6. We respect the rights of authors, designers and developers. We would never publish links to illegal sources that reproduce the work of other people or that violate authors’ rights. This holds as far as we can detect illegal sources or a copyright infringement.
  7. We always provide the sources of articles or books that we cite in our articles.
  8. All contributors to this weblog, both editors and guest authors, get paid for their work.
  9. We’re happy to receive suggestions from our readers and friends; however, we would never do favors for the sake of them. Our recommendations are based on our beliefs and our best intentions for Smashing Magazine readers.

What is required to be featured in Smashing Magazine?

You need to have high-quality material, of interest to large segments of the community. That means that designers and Web developers need to be able to use it, learn from it or develop it further. Websites that have some artistic or creative effort put into them have a good chance of getting featured in our magazine.

If you’d like to showcase your work or your skills, why not design a desktop wallpaper calendar and send it to us? Every month we publish the best entries we’ve received from our readers, together with a link to the artist’s blog or portfolio.
